A 40-year-old woman presents to the emergency room with symptoms of hypovolemia following a severe bout of vomiting and diarrhea due to a gastrointestinal infection. She appears weak and lethargic, with dry mucous membranes and decreased skin turgor. Vital Signs reveal tachycardia, hypotension and elevated respiratory rate. Laboratory tests show increased hematocrit and serum electrolyte imbalances and indicating dehydration.
